Ministry of Health said rise was ‘not unexpected’ as country awaits decision on lockdown extension
New Zealand has recorded another 35 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number in its outbreak to 107, the Ministry of Health has said, as the nation waits to learn if the lockdown will once again be extended.
The country moved into a nationwide level 4 lockdown – the highest setting – on Tuesday last week, after one case of the Delta variant emerged in the community. The swift move into lockdown forms part of New Zealand’s ambitious elimination strategy.
