Bekele Gerba's Statement In Courtroom --------------------------------------
In the history of this country, the court has never got the respect it deserves. We are here to show respect to this court, despite the weakness of this court. In this court, political prisoners are accused of charges that do not guarantee bail. The regime is bending the rule of laws to advance its interest. The government is nulling the court's decisions and orders. The regime is abolishing the court system. When people lose their confidence in the court system, they will try to bring justice to their hands. This will destruct the country. Lots of countries saw their end this way. The government must respect this court and its decision.
My message to the regime is that, there is no country that succeeded by killing and imprisoning its own people. Stop killing and imprisoning us. The only way out of this problem is a political dialogue, but not killing the innocent and the peaceful people. Otherwise, this country will see its end. The tyrannic regime will fall too; its about time.
